When using Apple Home – can I combine Matter and HomeKit-enabled accessories in an automation or scene?
Yes you can. For automations, Apple Home makes no difference whether your devices were added to your home through HomeKit or Matter.
Does Eve Energy have an onboard switch?
Yes. The little green LED is a button that you simply press. That way, whether your phone is out of reach, you don’t want to disturb the peace with a voice command, or a guest does not have access, Eve Energy can be operated like a regular switch.
Is Eve Energy safe for children?
Yes. Thanks to built-in terminal shutters that automatically close when unoccupied by a connected device, Eve Energy is off limits to budding electricians. Plus it features a child lock that disables the onboard button.
Eve Energy is a Full Thread Device (FTD) – but what does that mean?
Mains-powered Full Thread Devices (or FTDs) that are always on, such as Eve Energy, can act as routers within your Thread network and relay data packets. The more of these FTDs you have in your network, the more stable and greater its reach becomes.
Eve Energy requires iOS/iPadOS 16.4 (or later) or Android 8.1 (or later) plus a hub of your chosen platform:
Apple: Apple TV 4K (2nd gen), Apple TV 4K (3rd gen, 128 GB), HomePod (2nd gen), HomePod mini / Samsung: SmartThings Hub v3; Amazon: Echo (4th gen) / Google: Nest Hub (2nd gen), Nest Hub Max, Nest Wifi Pro
Switch your lights and appliances on and off using your voice or an app, and control your appliances on the go or based on presence.
Matter-enabled to let you seamlessly control your home across smartphones and voice assistants of all major platforms.
Get up and running in a flash with quick & easy set up / UL-certified / Cutting-edge Thread network technology for a robust smart home; enhances the stability and reach of your Thread network.

Thread + Matter = No more WiFi aggravation
If you have been doing smart home stuff for any length of time, you’ve probably had issues with WiFi instability and the annoyance of having to temporarily disable 5.0 WiFi instability order to configure 2.4 only devices. These plugs are use Thread for the transport and Matter as the protocol. They configure first time, every time and I haven’t had one go “no response” yet. One of these is installed at least 40ft from the nest closest Thread device and it has been rock solid. If Thread and Matter are new to you, it’s worth reading the introduction on Eve’s website. BTW, these devices also track energy usage, which could be useful.

Expensive but works great!
This plug from the same brand impressed me again. Onboarding was amazingly smooth. SmartThings added it flawlessly. Alexa recognized it and set it up right away. Google Home Hub struggled at first, likely because of shared admin rights with SmartThings and how devices were assigned. My Hub also seems to need a firmware update to fully support Matter over Thread, so I expect that to improve. Note that it requires a Thread Border Router. The plug is super responsive and stable. Energy monitoring works well, though it is a single meter for the whole plug. The green status LED is quite bright and there is no way to dim or turn it off. In Google Home it showed up as a plug with an energy meter, and after a refresh it stayed that way. Minor annoyance, not a deal breaker.Overall, a great smart plug with fast setup and fast response. I appreciate the privacy focus. I would buy it again.

These work very well
Easy setup, works just fine with Google Home. These are very convenient when you need either a temporary controllable / automatable plug (like for Christmas Tree lights) or when you don’t want the hassle of wiring that comes with an in-wall type smart plug. Just make sure you pay attention and have a compatible hub and thread border router. People who don’t have that will not want thread based devices and need to go for Wi-Fi based devices.

Nice quality switch that has great power monitoring
I had Wemo switches, but they haven’t been all that reliable. They would just stop working after some time. So what’s the use of having a switch that doesn’t work when you need them. These are much more reliable than the Wemo switches. They are also have really good privacy. You don’t even have to register any info with the company to start using them. They don’t really support Alexa or Google out of the box directly, but you can add on Matter support which will supposedly allow you to connect to those other services. Since Matter support with various manufacturers is on the new side, don’t know how good the support is yet. haven’t tried it, since I’m just decided to stick with HomeKit with threads. I just recently upgraded to the latest AppleTV which supports thread and it works much faster compared to my older AppleTV that didn’t have thread support. With threads, the more devices you add, the more better your communication is between them. It’s supposed to be more stable since if one device fails, another device will take over as the master and everything else will continue to work.I love that it has energy monitoring and is able to tell you how much watts your device is currently using. And shows how much you electricity you will using over the year. It’s also much more energy efficient than my older wifi plugs.Their app is OK, it could use some improvement, some of the settings are kind of buried too low and makes it hard to find, like names of device and adding favorites. You can have groups, but you can’t set a schedule for a group. You have to set them up individually for each item in a group, which is a pain. The group more for HomeKit where you can just tell Siri to turn on a particular group. It also just shows up as a single item within HomeKit, as opposed to the Eve app which you can still see all the individual items. One thing that the Eve app as well as Apple HomeKit cannot do is automatically turn off a device after a period of time when it’s turned on. That was one feature that Wemo was able to do. That way if you want to automatically turn off a device after it’s been left on for a period of time, you could a set a rule or automation to do that.Overall a great product that is energy efficient and has great privacy built in.

Works across multiple platforms
I’ve been using EVE devices for years and IMO they’re the best smart home devices/sensors available (you get what you pay for). The premium price is justified when considering the great customer support, ongoing firmware/feature improvements and a user friendly app . For example, Eve Energy updated firmware allows these devices to access Matter; with Matter users can now use multiple smart home controllers (Apple Home/Homekit, Alexa, and Google Home). No need to connect via slow & unreliable bluetooth, because connections use THREAD. Thread devices create a network of their own with superior range when compared to Bluetooth.Update: 11/29/23Purchased a 2 pack; the 1st unit installed without any problem, but the 2 unit kept giving me errors.• this device requires a hub OR• unable to locate device, you may need to restart the device. After resetting the device (instructions on resetting found in the included literature) for a 2nd time the install was successful…. Seems to be a firmware issue because the device went into a firmware upgrade as soon as it connected to my network.I still believe these are the best Smart plugs available, but like all technology, glitches happen.

Three months in with daily use and no complaints. They work much better than that brand that starts with a “B” that is shutting down their service.Okay, one small complaint! The power button is actually quite small and could be bigger so that it’s easier to press. Not a deal breaker, I’m buying 6 to replace my “B” brand plugs.

Love these plugs so much that I bought another pair, the first pair I’ve had for a couple of years now. All of the Eve devices I have had, when they’ve given me issues (it’s rare), are easily fixable. Most of the issues I’ve encountered had to do with the network router, and once that was rebooted, the devices would work properly again.

al parecer es un problema bastante común que no han solucionado, el que los conectes y después de unos dias dejen de funcionar sin que haya manera de volver a usarlos, muy común que aparezca el problema de que están sin respuesta y no haya manera de solucionarlo.
