Pointless
It doesn’t actually do anything. It sends a silent notification to your phone that the door is open, but there is no siren, no alarm, nothing that would actually prevent unauthorized entry or theft. After I installed it and nothing happened, I asked ChatGPT, which confirmed that this is not an alarm or siren of any kind. I just sends a silent notification to your phone that the door is open. It further said that if you want an alarm, you need to purchase a security hub. I find this misleading, given that the product description explicitly says it does not require a hub. I also was unable to find anything in the description making it clear that it doesn’t make a sound without one.

Some troubles, but ultimately – it’s a door sensor
I got this sensor to add to my slowly growing smart home. I like to get the notifications/alerts from devices & to have the devices ‘talk’/react to one another, so this one was another addition.I already have the Tuya app, so getting the sensor added to it was relatively easy. There are often issues in figuring out how to get the devices to be detected, but this one was no different than any of the others, so I was able to get it to connect to the Tuya app. From there, I use SmartThings, so I have all of my Tuya devices linked/imported into my SmartThings app – and that is where the ‘fun’ really happens. Ideally, with this door sensor, I can set up something where if a door is open, it will send a notification & trigger an alarm. I’m still having some trouble with that whole path, but it is detecting when the sensor is open, so I don’t think the issue is on the sensor side. The sensor itself is bigger than what I would have expected. It is not of huge concern based on where I was going to put it, but there are certainly other doors in my house where I’ve put sensors where there hasn’t been so much room – so this one would likely not have fit in that area. Again, didn’t matter for me here, but something to look out for if you have constraints.Overall, I’m happy enough with this sensor.

If only the wifi range worked just a bit further…
Took me a while to pair this one. In what should be an easy to connect device, it gave me error after error with my wifi. It would find it, connect to it, then error out when connecting the device. I tried 3 different networks to no avail. I got my Netgear Nighthawk Extender and voila, connected and is currently working as it should. The device is a nice option, no hub required to use, however it seems to have a weak wifi connection that unless the router or extender is really close, it will give you issues, whether it be no alerts or just plain ‘ol no connection whatsoever. It does run on two triple A batteries, not included. The app is not too bad and with smart device integrations as well.

Excellent for caregivers
Really smart addition for caregivers. It helps us to know when our elderly mother has opened her door without being intrusive. It’s alway a good idea to know when shes out so we can keep an ear out for her if she needs help since she has mobility issues. Only draw back is I can’t disable the sensor with the app and it really burns through batteries.

Kinda works, but not really userful
The devices do connect to wifi, and they do work. However, their response time can be almost a minute sometimes. They’re so slow that I’ve had a gaggle of kids running through a door multiple times, and the sensors never triggered because they’re so slow. If they door were left over for, say, 5 minutes, the sensor would go off.
