Switch Works Well with Apple Home
I purchased to automate the lights in my garage, tying it to when I unlock and lock the entry door to the garage. I needed a matter compatible 3-way switch and this does the trick. My garage lights are on a 3-way switch, which makes for a more complicated install especially if you’re only replacing one switch vs. replacing both. For setup, it’s important to determine which is the master and which is the slave as I would need to change out the master for it to work. Wiring it up requires connecting 5 wires. The first thing to note is that this switch requires a neutral wire, which older switches do not, so I only have 4 wires coming out of old switch. The Tapo and most smart switches require a neutral wire so first thing is to make sure your house wiring supports it else the smart function will not work. On the old switch, there’s ground (easy to identify as it’s usually bare wire) and then 3 additional wires for line and 2 travelers. One of my traveler wires was red making it easy to identify but the other 2 wires were both black. I initially installed the other two wires incorrectly mixing the 2nd traveler with the line. Once I turned on the power, the lights began flickering on and off. Easy fix, just needed to turn power back off and swap the 2 black wires between line and traveler. Once corrected, the switch was working. Now for me, the hard part was getting this module to fit into my box as it’s bulkier, so it took effort to make it fit.First, adding to the Tapo app on my phone was straight forward and only took a few minutes to get it added. Next I wanted to add the switch to Apple Home which was also fairly easy as Apple Home found it right away, so I didn’t need to use the matter code. The matter code can be generated in the Tapo app if it’s needed. With this switch and my smart lock both on Apple Home, I was able to quickly set up simple automations to turn the lights on and off whenever the smart lock is unlocked and locked. I can also easily turn on and off the lights remotely with my phone. The switch matches the look of my other switches and and was perfect for my install into a double gang box. It does also come with a single wall plate, which would look great on a single gang install, but for my needs, I didn’t use it. This switch does not dim, but that was not a feature I needed. Overall, this switch is a good value for the functionality it offers.

Great Smart Switch
These smart switches work great! I’ve been using them to remotely use lights/give them schedules and I have no complaints whatsoever. They’re better than the old Leviton Smart Switched I’ve had in the fact that they connect to your phone without hubs unlike the Leviton switches which require a hub. They’re quick and easy to set up, look pretty nice, and are pretty fast wirelessly. Overall, these guys are a 10/10 switch and I recommend them.

Rock-solid smart switch — easy setup, Matter + energy monitoring
Installed a few of these Tapo smart switches and they’ve been excellent. Setup in the Tapo app was fast, pairing was smooth, and they’ve been rock-solid reliable day to day.The biggest win is Matter support — it makes integration with Alexa / Google Home / SmartThings straightforward, and it feels more “future-proof” than older Wi-Fi switches. The energy monitoring is also a great feature and gives useful insight into what different lights and loads are actually using. The switch itself looks clean, feels well-built, and the button press is firm (not cheap or mushy). Overall it’s a great value compared to other smart switches with similar features.

Would by again, wish they used Thread over Matter instead of WiFi
I like my Lutron Diva and Caseta dimmers and switches more, because they use the Lutron hub and don’t clutter my wifi, but these have been good. Easy install, if you have done switch installs before. I liked that I could keep the original switch on the other side of the 3-way, so that you don’t have to buy 2. They respond quickly to manual and voice commands via the Tapo app or HomeKit/Siri and Home Assistant. They are less expensive than Lutron, look almost as good and work well. Also, the energy monitoring is useful.Lose one star because it uses wifi, vs Thread.

Great solution for 3-way and 4-way smart switch setups
TP-Link Tapo Smart Switch – Single-Pole / 3-Way / 4-Way, Matter CompatibleThis is another useful piece in the TP-Link Tapo smart home ecosystem. In my house I run more than 50 Tapo devices including dimmers, switches, and smart outlets. These switches are especially helpful when dealing with multi-location lighting setups such as 3-way or 4-way circuits where the same light is controlled from multiple switches.Tapo does a good job covering these situations so you can still integrate those circuits into the rest of the smart lighting system without complicated workarounds.Installation was straightforward and once added to the Tapo app the switch worked just like the rest of the system. It integrates easily with routines and voice control through Alexa, and the Matter support allows for fast local response even if the internet connection drops.Like the other Tapo switches in my house, it has been stable and reliable over the past year of use.If you’re building out a larger smart lighting system and run into a multi-switch circuit, it’s nice to know Tapo has an option that fits right into the ecosystem.

Easy way to make your lights smart!
I installed this Tapo Smart Wi‑Fi Light Switch to replace a traditional switch in my home, and I’m very pleased with how well it works. It lets me control my lights via the Tapo app, voice commands (Alexa, Siri, Google Assistant), and schedules — which is super convenient for daily routines and hands‑free use.I also like that it supports 3‑way/4‑way setups so you can control the same lights from multiple locations — perfect for hallways and staircases. The energy monitoring feature is a nice bonus too, helping me keep track of usage. Quick setup with the app was straightforward, though having a neutral wire in the switch box is required.Overall, this smart switch is a great upgrade from standard light switches — reliable and packed with useful features for a smart home. Highly recommend it!

Atende perfeitamente seu propósito. Compatível com Energy do Smartthings, pode ser instalado wifi no app Tapo e depois via Matter no hub Smartthings. Fique sabendo do seu gasto energético com Tapo!

Used it for a 4 way connection, put it at the end of the loop so the other lights switches work, no issues

I am a novice in these things and was able to figure this out by using the wiring diagram provided in the box. This switch surely works for a 4-Way setup.
