Solid Locking Mechanism and Easy to Program
Nice looking lock that is easy to install and easy to program. Works exactly as expected. Great for side doors.

Great rental locks
Bought these for my college rental houses. Easy to install, and problem free for renters. No apps or WiFi connections, just a good coded lock with real key backup. I give my renters and property manager a physical key and the directions to set a numeric code, easy. Auto lock feature is nice, lets them set a delay to auto lock (or turn it off if they want). When I get new tentants I just clear out the codes and rekey, probably takes 5min.

Reliable
Bought this to replace a cheap version from another company that stopped working after 6 months. Good quality and easy to program.

So far, so good
First of all, the lock looks great, especially the modern rectangular design in matte black. Second, the installation was a breeze; it took less than 30 minutes. At first, I thought the lock was malfunctioning, because the deadbolt would not close properly and would keep retracting and extending several times and make noise and the blinking red light would come on, and the door would still be unlocked. I was almost about to return the lock but, after playing around with the strike plate and taking some more measurements, it turned out the hole in the door frame wasn’t deep enough to allow the deadbolt to extend all the way (one inch) into the wall. Once I took a chisel into the hole and scraped out some more wood, the deadbolt started working perfectly and also smoothly! I’ve only had the lock for a few days so I cannot say anything about battery life or longevity but, so far, so good.

A Great lock.
This lock does not have all the bells and whisles like the smart locks but it makes up for it in battery life. I like the simple look and the keypad funtions. The installation was simple and i was able to rekey it. Overall im satisfied with this purchase.

Works on Hurricane Doors!
I have been a Kwikset fan for most of the past 20 years. I have purchased traditional and smart locks and they’ve been reliable for me.My backdoor (garage) smart lock finally stopped working after 10 years. I never had a problem with it in three different houses. I decided to purchase a Powerbolt 250, and it installed perfectly…works fantastic (and I rekeyed it to my original key). The Smartcode 270 is a beautiful lock. I have been hesitating on changing my standard deadbolt because the mechanism looked complicated and made of metal (see the pictures). It is much different looking than a standard door latch that you just remove and replace. The mechanism allows the door to send a metal bolt into the bottom of the door frame for hurricane protection. That being said, I was hesitant.I finally decided to “be smarter than the equipment,” and perform the install. I thought I could just install the main exterior (keyed entry) and interior (battery/turnpiece) assemblies. However it became apparent that the latch system holes are not large enough to accommodate the new bolts, so I had to remove it and install the one that came with the SmartCode 270. This was easily done, but the aforementioned metal piece had to be aligned with the latch. This took about 10 minutes to accomplish, but it was worth it. I assembled the remaining exterior and interior assemblies per instructions. Please note that my hurricane door deadbolt hole diameter is 2.25” in diameter and therefore requires the use of the adapter ring. After final installation, I tested the system. I discovered that my lock would lock the deadbolt, but not retract it back into the door. I decided to disassemble the assemblies and expose the keylatch. When I reassembled the interior and exterior assemblies, I did not tighten the anchor bolts “super-tight.” Rather, I hand-tightened them snug. This was all that was necessary. The lock now works flawlessly. I will share a video.

Stay away!
Do not buy! Bought two of them. Both are not working. Noth are flashing red 5 times. The deadbolt does not lock or unlock and keeps getting stuck. Went through all the trouble shooting. I am a expert at installation. Stay far away

Convenient, solid lock
I decided to go with this lock after I experienced poor battery life with an internet connected lock. This one is not connected to the internet, and I am hoping its batteries will last at least a year, since the door lock is rarely actuated through the pad. I very much like the Smartlock feature that allows easy user rekeying. On installation, I found the key could not be removed except when the bolt was in the locked position. But this was easily corrected by rotating 180 degrees the flat actuator extending from the outside lock face into the bolt. The jury is still out on battery life, and I will report back on this.
