Exactly what I needed to get my smart home working
I have a tiny apartment, so I figured one Echo 4 would be enough to power a few sets of Matter shades. What I didn’t realize is that despite the small amount of square footage, signals don’t love traveling through doors, around walls, and between rooms. This Echo Hub was exactly what I needed. As with all Echo devices, set up was a snap. I am getting to that point where I’ve run out of names on their list (Echo, Alexa, Computer, Ziggy, Amazon) so I’ve resorted to giving Echo devices in different rooms the same, George Foreman-style.My shades are pretty cheap ones made by a no-name manufacturer who I don’t think is even in business anymore, but the Alexa app immediately recognized them and added them to my device list. Now, I have a routine to open them at my wake-up time and shut them at sundown. While it works like any other Echo device, I appreciate that they focused on making it a centralized smart home hub. The UX isn’t the best or most intuitive, but it’s “good enough” for allowing me to access each room and control lights, air conditioners, air filters, cameras, and more. It’s cool to be able to mount it on a wall in a central place so I can control different devices without having to go into the app on my phone. It’s got a sleek look that’s just the right size and color for my off-white walls. The audio quality isn’t the best, but of course that’s not it was built for—I do have it controlling the music playlist for every other Echo around the house. It is a bit pricier than I’d hoped for, but it is more affordable than buying a new Echo 4 or Echo Show just for the Zigbee, Matter, and Thread Border Routers. And “Like New” really meant “Like New”—there wasn’t a scratch on the unit, and it was indistinguishable from a brand new one.

My favorite Amazon Device
I have dots and show but love my hub the most. Communicates better and can see my cameras, lights and plugs earlier. Really like the ability to use Alexa + on this device.

The worst product
The worst product ever bought it lags a lot and gives me a lot of errors and never connects I don’t understand why this happened

Instead of Echo Show
Where has this little hub been? I use it mostly for a constant time display. The ability to setup a room or group of smart home devices to control on a panel is another great feature. The display navigation could be a bit more responsive.

Seamless integration with smart devices.
Amazing device! Now with Alexa+ (AI), you can even tell it to create a routine for you. I just pulled out my hardwired alarm/automation panel and installed this Echo Hub 8 and a Ring alarm system. The integration with all of my smart devices is seamless. I can control everything through the hub either by touch or by voice. Creating routines is so much easier than on my old panel that would have tsken 20-50 lines of code every time I wanted to do something.

I like the Echo Hub
I have two of thes, one next to my bed and one in my office. They are far better than the Echo Show when used as a status display for home automation.Note: Internal speaker is CRAP! Not a problem for my use.
