iRobot 105 w/AutoEmpty
Setting up this iRobot with the Auto Empty was fast and easy. Only thing you have to watch out for during setup is that it is only compatible with 2.4ghz Wi-Fi. Other than that, it should only take a few minutes to detect and connect, followed by charging before it’s first run.Mapping my 1400sf home only took a few minutes and it was ready to start it’s first vacuum job. The app is pretty simple to use and lets you edit the room names and allows you to merge the rooms into one in case you want to schedule a couple of adjacent rooms to vacuum per job.The iRobot is relatively quiet unless you’re in the same room with it. The only part that is really loud is when it docks and the Auto Empty feature kicks in. But it is loud for a reason, very strong suction to get all the dust out from the small dustbin. If you’ve never had the Auto Empty before, it is a game change because it holds quite a bit before you have to dump it out.Overall, works very well without any problems. A small setback is the battery being a little too small, the iRobot had to dock itself a few times to recharge before completing the job and my home is only 1400sf. It wont be a problem at all if I schedule it during the hours that I’m not home so I won’t have to see it running around on and off for a few hours.

HORRIBLE do not waste money
Researched getting replacement for my old iRobot i3… felt this would be an improvement as had docking station like my old/current one and same brand, so what could go wrong??? Ok, to start with it would not work with the new app but it would not work with the old app, spent an hour on phone with Manufacturer who had me unscrew bottom, take out battery that was attached with electrode type wires, then replace ( he called hard reboot) had me do multiple other things, all to no avail, and the big defective problem, it would not DOCK even though all systems were go, when I manually placed it to the dock as directed, it just kept pulling away and going off, when it would try to dock, it would spend long periods circling in front, then would get one side touching the metal dock area ( there are 2) and the other would not be touching, if I manually pushed it next to it, it would dock and then start moving away. Essentially not usable if I cannot have it start and return to dock without me standing next to it pushing it and holding in place. I did everything I could but in the end, it has/had to go back, brand new out of box should have worked at least a little while, but no… so it was a horrible experience, and maybe I just got a lemon/dud/defective one, but at that price point, I am not going to suck it up and keep it..nope, it should at the very minimum do what it is supposed to do. Sadly the app it was supposed to work with would not control it, we were told to delete and download again, still nothing. I have had my i3 for 5 years, and it has been mostly just fine, I was trying to replace before the motor fully wore out, and that was my mistake. I am now going to hold onto my old one until it dies and then I guess I will try another brand that actually works.

Surprisingly Easy and Effective
I’ve only used the Roomba for three days, but I’m already impressed with how convenient it is. I wasn’t sure what to expect since this is my first time using a robot vacuum, but it’s been really easy to set up and use right out of the box. It does a great job picking up everyday dust (see pics), crumbs, and hair, things I didn’t even notice before. I don’t have pets, but I still fell like my floors are noticeably cleaner. It moves smoothly around furniture and gets into corners better than I thought it would, check out the pics.I also like that it returns to its charging station on its own when it’s done, it did it once during a scheduled cleaning, and the maps of cleaning is super helpful on the app. Did I mention, I can schedule it on my app, picks zones (rooms) and give different schedules. It does the mapping once and it gave an accurate map the very first time. One thing that stood out is how much time and effort it saves. Instead of dragging out a vacuum every day, I can just let Roomba run while I do other things. It’s not very loud either, which was a nice surprise.Even in just few days, I can see how helpful it’s going to be for keeping my place clean with minimal effort. If you’ve never tried robot vacuum before, this is a great way to get started and you don’t have to clean behind it, it auto dumps into a collector (check pics). That can be emptied once a month or more. Thanks Roomba!

Terrible APP
I have had my Roomba for a year now. Previously I owned a different brand but have a dog that sheds badly and thought this one might do a better job. It seems to clean fairly well and only occasionally has an issue. It is great about not bumping into furniture. It seems to get caught on my rug quite a bit though or at least pull the corner over. All in all, I like how it works. However, the set up was terrible. After multiple attempts, I finally discovered that it is only compatible with 2.4ghz Wi-Fi and of course that is not what I had. So I had to have the Internet people give me another option. Anyways but the one thing I absolutely hate about this machine is the APP. In my opinion it is terrible, hard to access quickly and keeps dropping the settings I have in place as well as the Wifi. Unfortunately because of the app, I will probably not purchase a Roomba again.

Does not clean any longer than 5ft or even have more than 20 mins battery life
Terrible… I read only good reviews.. I guess mine came from the last person n wasn’t calibrated at all… came back from deployment months after purchase n excited to clean my home with a busy schedule n this thing is honestly useless… sorry it’s harsh but it’s the truth… I will be finding a way to return it

I bought one, after 1 month, it would get stuck against a wall, i was not home so the wheels got used (eaten up) and motor seemed damaged, even if wheels were clean and the area was lit, daytime! so I returned it, and bought another one thinking it was bad luck the first one, then the second one after 1 month does the same thing!! but I was home and was able to stop it before again the wheels would burn! yet had to put it upside down because i was not able to stop it in any way. So returning this one too. too bad! cause when it worked, it was great, but for this amount of money, you would think it would be good! very disappointed in Roomba.

I’ve long been a fan of Roomba‘s and iRobot, but I can no longer justify any recommendation to buy their products. I still have my older model working hard every day, but these new ones are just a piece of junk. I’ve had to reset this particular robotnumerous times. It gets lost. It doesn’t start its job. It starts and then runs for two minutes and then shuts down. I have to reset it constantly with just a litany of problems and their customer service now is just absolutely atrocious. Again I was a big fan but no longer. Edit March 2026 iRobot finally sent me a replacement unit. This one works like a champ and has none of the issues that the previous defective machine had. 5 star now.

This was our first venture into robot vacuums. In general we were very impressed with its performance. One observation is that if you suffer from pet hair then get the model specifically designed for that. We only have “visitor” dogs yet the hair was sufficient to clog the vacuum. However the design is such that it is easy to clean

Quiet, efficient, works well on hard and carpet. Unfortunately with the small circular on top does not fit under bedroom dressers (old 604 did)
