    Great value and performance.
This has been a great investment. We keep a boat docked on the river with WiFi available. I needed a physical Ethernet connection for my music server. This works wonderfully. It’s portable, so I can take it on the road and have my own VPN. Performance is great!

Amazing little router that has a few tricks
Calling it a travel router does this unit a disservice. It may be small enough to be a travel router but it has enough power and memory to be a perfect home perimeter router. I already have a comprehensive wireless network built out but I wanted the benefits of Asuswrt-Merlin (think AdGuard Home, Entware, OpenVPN/WireGuard server, etc). This unit is perfect to slot in between my modem and mesh wireless access points (WAPs in bridge mode). It all works really well. Note: this unit only has a 1G LAN port so make sure you take that into consideration especially if your network is faster than 1Gbps.

    Light and portable
Great for what it is – portable and lightweight. Not clear to me yet how efficient the WiFi really is, I’ve seen mixed results. Also, only one LAN port – two would have been so much better. There’s a toggle switch on the router that lets you switch modes.

    Good router. Recommend it.
Good router, lots of options, does not do the latest WIFI high power (except around FAA or other restricted areas), but still works very good and is mobile.

    Not for Everyone
Warning for potential buyers: Setting up this router requires some basic knowledge of how to connect a router to a modem. If you plan to change custom VPN or DNS settings, you’ll need more advanced networking knowledge. It does not come with an instruction manual, and most setup information must be looked up online, often with vague descriptions. That said, this is a great router and exactly what I needed for travel. It offers a lot of customization options, is very fast, and works well once configured. Just be aware it’s not ideal for beginners.

Travel router that does double duty!
Great travel router that also doubles as an extra node on my Asus Mesh network. The setup was very easy, because it is Asus. The only part I can’t figure out is how to access my USB drive via the RT-BE58. I am sure an email to support will help when I get around to it. Overall a great product that I highly recommend! A++

Works well with Asus AIMESH using Asus latest firmware
I bought this unit primarily serve as a node to my Asus AIMESH network. I fash the bios to Merlin firmware, it is a primary reason I bought it because it was on the Merlin support list.In this case, I have to say the Asus firmware is better, be cause the Merlin firmware will keep on dropping the clients, I have to tefkash it back to Asus. Also, I will suggest to change your roaming assistant threshold from -70 dbm (default) to -67 dbm, otherwise, the client will not switch quickly to BE58_GO, it will stick with the weak master router. Also, Asus AIMESH quirk, if you reset BE58_GO to be discovered by your main router, make sure you remove the ghost image from the Asus UI (bring up the AIMEH screen) and hit the ‘-‘ to remove, otherwise. You will have an inactive node, even it says it successfully add your ride to the AIMESH network.
