Great Smart Lock – Auto-Lock Feature Is Fantastic
We bought the Tapo Smart Wi‑Fi Deadbolt Door Lock because we already have several other Tapo products in our home that have worked really well. This lock has been a great addition. Our favorite feature is the auto-lock timer. You can set it for 5, 10, or 15 minutes after the door is closed, and the deadbolt automatically locks. That’s been incredibly convenient because if you leave the house and forget to lock the door, you don’t have to panic or turn around to check—it takes care of itself.Installation was straightforward, and it integrated easily with our other Tapo devices. The app control works smoothly and gives nice peace of mind when you’re away from home.Overall, it’s been reliable, convenient, and a great upgrade from a traditional lock. Very happy with this purchase. 🔐

Metal Minimalist WiFi
We have been using this WiFi door lock for about a week. Everything is working, WiFi connection, remote locking and status of door lock. It responds quickly to both keypad entries and the WiFi commands. It has a grade three security rating on the dead bolt. The exterior metal construction has an understated minimalist look. Interior is plastic. Would prefer it not to have Tapo name on exterior of lock but it is much more discreet than many brands. It is quick to install on a standard door, about 30 minutes. One time it became unresponsive to Alexa commands but upon checking, the Alexa skill had somehow become disabled. It was a quick fix and did not affect the locks ability to function. We mainly use the keypad but use the WiFi to check that the door is locked at night. Great price, perfect lock for us.

Great smart lock at a good price, notifications drop periodically.
My family is terrible at locking doors, so these auto-locking is a great functionality. They are super easy to install and shouldn’t require modifications to the door or frame in most cases. Older houses will probably require more modifications than anything built in the last 40-ish years. Battery life is pretty good, being able to set PINs for different people and the app tell you who unlocked it is great. My one complaint is that these door locks stop sending notifications through the tapo app periodically. They still operate completely normally, all features still work, but notifications will not come through. A quick pop out and reinsert of the batteries is all it takes to fix the issue, but it is still kind of annoying when you realize that the door locks have stopped telling you if the door didn’t close all the way and the latch is jammed (which is also a really great feature).

Tapo Smart Deadbolt Door Lock
I ordered 2 of the Tapo DL Smart Wi-Fi Deadbolt Door Locks to replace my regular dead bolt locks.. The locks are great quality, heavy duty and work well. They were easy to install. It is very easy to program codes. They work perfectly with the app. You can program them to automatically lock after a certain amount of time. I like the feature that allows you to use a power bank if the batteries fail. They come with 2 keys and everything to install them, except for a screwdriver. They look good installed. They are a good value. I am glad I bought them. I do recommend them.

Lives up to the TP-Link/Kasa Standards – 5 Star 🌟
Overall, I am happy with the lock. I’ve been using it for 3 months before posting this review. My only issue is that after only 3 months, the power level of the four (4) AA batteries is already below 17% – though the product description says battery life should be 200 days if left on Wi-Fi full time. My unit is programmed to be on Wi-Fi for 18hrs /day. I purposely did NOT used the batteries that came in the box. I bought new, higher quality batteries. Only two people live here using it and the log is showing MINIMAL daily usage. My only complaint. But it’s an important issue.Out of the box I could tell right away the quality and because the exterior case is metal, the durability of the lock. It was an easy installation to replace existing deadbolt (no additional cutting or sizing), simple setup and configure using my Android phone and the TAPO app. I have been using TP-Link and Kasa products for several years including Wi-Fi switches, plugs and LED bulbs. My Router is TP-Link (but also previously used Linksys). All the products are very easy to set up and connect to the Wi-Fi via phone app and to continue to use. Connects FLAWLESSLY to my Alexa and Google Mini assistant with voice command (“Alexa, unlock front door” or “Hey Google….”) with SECURE verbal pass code authorization. I get active notifications whenever the lock is accessed AND including when an incorrect pass code was attempted (tested several times for security peace of mind) for entry. A big plus with functionality, because every family member or roommate has individual pass code and can be quickly revoked at anytime by the registered account holder. Has nighttime keypad light touch activation. I love the auto-lock after a preset time incase you forget to manually lock it and using the unlock/lock feature in the app from anywhere. For your security, you even get popup notification if the door is slightly ajar and the lock can’t fully extend. I am sure this lock would be a definite benefit for shut-ins and those in a wheelchair who get regular visitors, home care or in-home deliveries. Especially with limited day and time preset pass code access and one-time pass code. And YOU set it up for when it is available to be used. I am definitely satisfied.Security note: not anyone can activate verbal “unlock” with Alexa or Google. Verbal unlock command is ONLY usable with password authentication.
