Good features, but auto lock and interior aesthetics could be better
Installing the lock physically was very easy. It requires an app to set it up. After several failures with nondescript error messages, I tried another device and it worked on that one. With this, it took many times longer to configure it that it did to install it. Fortunately, once the app is up and running, installing a 2nd lock goes very quickly. Some minor cutting to accomodate the new plates was needed. This was done using a utility knife. The plastic box-like object they provide wasn’t useful though. The deadbolt recess was oval in shape. It would have been a lot of work to have to chisel all that out just to get the rectangular plastic box in there. That was left out.The main drawback for me is the auto-lock. It is based solely on timing and doesn’t care if the door is open or closed. Another lock I have is smarter. It has a hall-effect sensor and locks when the door is closed. Much nicer. I would much prefer this type of locking, but was unable to find a unit that met my requirements. I chose this one as something of a tradeoff. The other problem is aesthetics. What works on the outside, aesthetically, doesn’t work so well inside. The inside is a large dark brick like object whose color doesn’t match the typical interior decor. It would be better if they had a few covers of different colors to use for the indoor part. I covered the battery cover to lighten the color. The outside unit, though, looks great. One of the reasons I bought it. But there are two very different sides to a door. I am not done yet. I will try to find a way to make it look nicer on the inside. The app is for the most part well written (except for the lack of proper error messages), but the copy function from lock to lock isn’t very useful. It doesn’t bring your attention to its limitation which is that it only copies the card info. Nor does it say what it did. It just says copied 2 records. Not very informative. It does not copy the fingerprints. Getting the fingerprints is a lot more work. Being able to copy those would be a bigger benefit than the cards which are easy to add.Overall, though, the unit is quite acceptable. The main thing likely to sink it is if the auto-lock turns out to be a nuisance. Auto-lock is a must have for me. A good auto-lock with sensor would be preferred. Time will tell.

Great lock – Don’t let Bluetooth Frustrate You
Just installed this. It’s working great so far. The only reason I’m writing a review is to save you one headache when you’re trying to connect to the lock using Bluetooth. The lock must be LOCKED. Otherwise Bluetooth will fail to connect and you’ll never get the app to work. Here are my favorite things:Security: It has a physical key and supports passcodes, keyfobs, and finger prints. The passcodes are generated. If you can set your own, I have not figured out how. You can also text someone a temporary code with an expiration date and time.Batter life: Just installed. No data yet.Ease of use: Again, the initial set up with the Bluetooth will give you fits if you don’t have the lock in the correct position. If you are struggling with “operation failed” errors when you try to connect, just switch the deadbolt into the other position than what you have it in and try again. For me, it had to be in the LOCKED position.Build quality: It’s mostly heavy plastic and little aluminum. It’s not made from the beautiful heavy polished brass of the “old-fashioned” lock I replaced with it, but it looks nice and I expect it will hold up for many years.

Defective Out of the Box, SMONET Sent a Replacement Free Of Charge
***UPDATE 4/19 2025***This thing is junk, absolute trash. This this fails to work properly. After I got the replacement it took under a month before it started acting up again. I’m not contacting the seeker for a new one. Because I know their product is just awful. Do not purchase this. Buy the more expensive one with that will actually work. Serious save your money. Video coming soon.***UPDATE***I contacted the seller directly, the gave me a 1 year warranty that comes with the lock. Not only that they did a full replacements with one day shipping. The replacement works just fine. No issues with the operation. I had to check the old lock to make sure it wasn’t a user error. But the lock was actually defective. So far so good.Completely defective out of the box. It loves to say “operation failed” when you lock, unlock, put in the code. This lock does everything but work. Customer service is non existent. I’ll be returning this to Amazon.

Didn’t originally recommend but customer service is outstanding
My original review is below. I’m updating it because the seller contacted me when they read it and they offered to send me a gateway (which is apparently needed to use the remote features with wifi and not Bluetooth) and said they would change their listing to make sure the gateway requirement is more prominent. They also said they’d pass on the feedback to their IT about the required guest logins to see if it can be modified. I’m also changing the stars from 2 to 4. That’s a big jump but it’s so refreshing to have a company acknowledge and affirmatively try to improve that I think it’s deserved.Original review: Installation was easy and the instructions were clear. I also like the fingerprint sensor. But you can’t remotely lock or unlock it unless you’re within two meters of it. This defeats the whole purpose of remote access. I mean, come on. If I’m standing right there I don’t need remote access. Another issue is that if you send a link to someone for temporary access they have to make a log in before they can use it. I’m not going to make people do that. It’s intrusive and unnecessary and again, defeats the purpose of convenience, which is a primary reason I bought this lock in the first place. If it wasn’t already installed I would return it but I’ll probably just put it on an infrequently used door since it’s basically an overpriced standard lock.
