Good value for openwrt
This is a really nice, compact router that’s perfect for running openwrt. The USB power is particularly nice because you might not need to find an extra wall plug to power the router, as it can be run off of a port on a multi port USB power supply, fed directly from a computer, or even powered via a battery pack.

Works well, but has lower speeds
This router is easy to setup and use. But it has several issues.Pros:Device is compact and power is very simple to provide to it making it work in many environments.The antennas fold and allow different angles for better coverage.Cons:Settings can be limited, making more complex setups more difficult.The max throughput is 100mbps total. Meaning every device connected shares the 100mbps bandwidth. So if you require higher speeds you may need to disconnect other devices or get a different device.The Mac port speed on the ethernet ports is 100mbps which is fine in most environments, but some switches and router may not be compatable (this is mainly for 10Gbps networks or other less compatible equipment)I bought this device to use as an access point in my home network, it was cheap and has some good feature so I got it. I was surprised by the lower speeds, but the speed is fair for the price. The main issue for me is that it was not compatible with my switch. I have a 10G switch and although most 10G switches state they are compatible with 100mbps but the system simply cannot negotiate a link.For most people 100mbps is a perfectly good speed. Especially as a travel router for 1-2 devices. But for those who need higher speeds and more users, it is definately worth the cost for a better version of this router or a different one.

I recently purchased the Cudy TR1200 pocket-sized travel router for my frequent business trips, and I must say, I’m thoroughly impressed with its performance and features.It’s incredibly easy to set up and configure using the Cudy app, which offers a user-friendly interface for managing your network settings.One of the standout features is the TR1200’s ability to connect to hotel or public Wi-Fi networks and create a secure, private connection for your devices. This is especially useful when dealing with captive portals or login pages, as the router handles the authentication process seamlessly.The built-in USB port allows you to connect an external storage device and create your own mini NAS (Network Attached Storage). NO POWER SUPPLY PROVIDED,Why you Advertise AC1200 800mbps speeds if the WAN PORT only goes 100mbps, FOOL.False advertising.For those who do not know Technicals:1. 4k video; Netflix recommended Minimum speed is 250mbps / 25MBs , HD 1080p is like 12-15MB. This device can only give you 100mbps.2. A cat-5 cable goes peak speed of 300mbps; reality is like 150mbps.manufacture cannot claim any speeds greater than that, as the cable they provide in the box is Cat-5.3. THIS DEVICE : Supports 100mbps ports ONLY!!! Enough to stream music or check email. PossiblyOne person could watch a 720 video on their phone. It would NOT Support 2 or 3 phone users for sure.VPN :Most users would purchase this so that VPN Could be used, This will cut your bandwidth, sometimes by about a thrid (1/3); This is known, but with 100mbps speeds, this is like crawling in mud.So HOW Can they Claim AC1200 speeds?Well because the devices that talk to one another that are connected to the Router, will talk at AC1200 speeds. Good Budget OpenWRT Wireless Bridge
Able to run stock OpenWRT firmware, which opens up a lot of possibilities of what you can do with this device. The Ethernet ports are 10/100, which is expected in a device at this price range, but it does have both 2.4 and 5ghz radios. Flash memory is 16mb, ram is 128mb, which are very usable specs for OpenWRT as of 2026. I am using a couple of these as wireless to Ethernet bridges for IoT devices and to extend my IoT wireless network via BATMAN mesh (5ghz backhaul, 2.4ghz network). You could also load usbip or ser2net on it to connect a serial device over wireless.

I bought this router for a very specific reason. I want to use it as a NAS using SMBv2 or SMBv3. it was delivered yesterday, and today I plugged it in, a few configs, and Bob’s your uncle. Very easy to config. Before I bought it, I contacted support to ask if the router supports SMBv2/3. They said it supports SMBv2 and I was ecstatic. I was going to buy the TR3000 which was +-1200ZAR and this one is around 400ZAR, saving +-800ZAR

Zeer goede travel router. Heel wat functies, lage prijs, voeding via USB (laptop,powerbank,adaptor) geen probleem.Goede ontvangst en sterk signaal.Dit is een veel beter toestel dan een wifi extender (extender is maar 1 van zijn modes, WISP is een belangrijker mode)De voorziene grafische interface maakt het wel gemakkelijk allemaal.In vergelijking met een GL.iNET zijn de opties, en dus de controle over de werking, toch wat beperkt.Geen echte OpenWRT LUCI of SSH toegang voor alle OpenWRT opties, tenzij men de Cudy image door originele OpenWRT vervangt, een mogelijkheid die uitdrukkelijk is voorzien. (Maar dan verliest men de Cudy configuratie. en GUI. Zerotier bvb is bijzonder interessant en eenvoudig in te stellen)Ik ben veeleisend, en vergelijk met GL.iNET en Mikrotik.- graag had ik de bandbreedte wel kunnen beperken tot 20MHz voor 2.4GHz en 40Mhz voor 5 GHz band- Wifi Signaal is heel sterk (wellicht US niveau)- DFS kanalen in 5 Hz worden wel opgevangen en doorgegeven, maar niet als eigen frequenties verzonden- grootste gemis is niet kunnen aanloggen op een Enterprise (EAP) beveiligde wifi

Pazzesco! La rete WiFi è esplosa!!! Non ci sono più “salti” di connessione e la velocità è aumentata notevolmente. Il modem è al piano inferiore e nonostante i vari ripetitori wifi provati, la connessione al piano superiore era problematica. Adesso ho risolto.
