Fit into our existing smoke detectors slot, and connects with the whole home
Works great. Connects to our existing smoke and CO2 detectors sectors through out the house. Glad to know the house will be safe even when we aren’t home as we get alerts. Easy instructions on how to install. Plenty loud and it speaks to you. Great value not much more than a standard detector.

A great replacement for aging Google Nest Protects
I’ve had Google Nest Protects throughout my home for years, and have always been quite happy with them as I live alone and work two jobs. I monitor my home security myself through various smart devices. When a few of my Nest Protects were expiring around the same time, I discovered that, as Google does with most of its user-friendly, successful brands, the Nest Protect line was being discontinued. Now I had to find a replacement. Enter the Kidde Smart Detector–about half the price of the Nest Protect Detectors. I ordered three of them, and must say, I think I have found the perfect replacement. I already have a Ring Doorbell, and these devices setup easily and function just as well as the Nests, and integrate into the Ring app, so no additional apps were needed. You can opt to pay for monthly monitoring, but self-monitoring is free to use.I will say before finding these, I did buy a First Alert Smart Detector that was flaunted as the direct replacement for the Nest Protect devices per Google. BUUUUUTTTT–you have to download the app for First Alert, and also the App for Google Home, in order for the Nest Protect and First Alert apps to talk to each other. The First Alert device seems to function adequately, but I was under the impression that the First Alerts would just integrate into the Nest App. They do not!The only qualm I have with the Kidde Detectors is that I wish they had the nightlight option that the Nest Protects had. Otherwise, these are a very stout replacement for Nest Protects that are aging out.

Solid, modern smoke and CO detectors with useful smart integration
We installed three Kidde smoke and carbon monoxide detectors while updating older units, and after a few months of use they have worked exactly as intended.Installation and setup were straightforward, and once in place the detectors have been quiet and reliable. The smart alert integration adds peace of mind, especially when away from home, without being confusing or intrusive. We have had no false alarms or connectivity issues, and overall the detectors feel well-built and thoughtfully designed. These are not flashy devices, but they do what matters most: provide clear, dependable protection.A solid choice for anyone replacing aging detectors and wanting a modern, connected option that still feels simple and trustworthy.

Smart Upgrade for Home Safety – Worth the Extra Cost
I installed this Kidde smoke detector because it connects directly to my Ring app, and it’s been a great upgrade for peace of mind. Setup was straightforward, and once it was connected I could immediately monitor the detector right from my phone. What I really like is that it sends alerts through the Ring app, so I’ll know right away if there’s an issue even when I’m not home. That added layer of monitoring is a huge benefit. For a few extra dollars compared to a standard smoke detector, the smart connectivity and alerts make it absolutely worth it. If you already use Ring products or want better visibility into your home’s safety, this is a great choice.

Chirps on firmware update.
I bought this trying to get away from the chirping. I’ve had Nest Protect for the past 10 years and chirping was non-existent. Hooked this up and joined the wifi. All went great. Then about an hour later it chirped. I was like “are you serious?”. And I looked at the app and it said “Firmware Upgraded”. Really! Who cares. Why does it have to chirp when the firmware is upgraded? So I went into settings on the app to turn off chirping on firmware upgrade. Nope, doesn’t exist. So lets see how often the firmware upgrades. The next firmware upgrade better be to add a switch to turn off the unecessary chirps. If the firmware upgrades in the middle of the night and it chirps I’ll update this post.Come on Kidde. Can’t you figure out what people really want?

Easy to swap out from old style
The compatibility from my old Kidde smoke detectors to the new smoke/CO2 went smoothly. Was easy to swap out from my old smoke detectors. Although they were over priced, the sense of security made it worth the money.

Good replacement for NEST if you are in the RING ecosystem.
This replaced my expired NEST detector, install was simple and easy to set up in the Ring app. My home has a total of 7 detectors expiring over the ext 18 months so I’m auditioning this one to replace all my Nest. The issue with this detector, and something that maybe can be updated in the future via firmware updates. The issue is when it wants to do a firmware update it beeps to let you know the update has started then another series of beeps to tell you it’s done. I don’t need to know, update silently. I can’t have 7 detectors beeping all the time for software updates. A detector should only beep if there is an alarm, low battery or some other critical failure I need to know about. Don’t beep for software updates.Update – After a month only had the firmware update beep on initial install its been silent after that so upping my review to 4 stars. Went ahead and replaced all 7 of my NEST protects with these.Would like to see in the app expiration date, I’m good for 10 years but would like to see that displayed in the app in the future.

Great Ring Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Detector!
This smoke detector works well! It was very easy for an electrician to set up, and to configure on my app. I feel safer at home with a smoke and carbon monoxide detector!
