Heavy duty, very bright LED lighted security camera with nice features for the free subscription
At this price point you get very good value and functionality with the free subscription level. The body off the camera is heavy duty and as others have mentioned the high output LED’s are very bright! There are 3 levels of subscription, where ‘free’ is the first level and I’m surprised at how much you get for the free level. With the subscription, it includes all TOUCAN devices you have, no extra charge per device. The app was very easy to pair after creating an account, however, the account verification link didn’t work at the time I first created the account, but the app seems to be working fine. The output as advertised is 1080p, but I’m not sure of the frame rate at the time of writing this review. The picture quality looks very good for 1080p and you can see a screen shot example from the app in the photos I have included. The audio quality is pretty good too and the microphone does a good job and picking up audio along with the speaker in the device if need to talk to someone where the camera is.The network WIFI config was nice with the app, it picked up the SSID my phone was connected too. As is the case with all these types of IoT devices, it only supports 2.4ghz WIFI access points, this was to be expected, but it still connected fine to an SSID that has both 5ghz and 2.4ghz detection. Sometimes this devices require a dedicated 2.4ghz SSID to connect. One thing I really like is the power cable and the extension. There is a brick that plugs into the wall, but the power cable seems very sturdy and heavy duty. The camera also will sit up with the mount sitting on a level surface without needing to actually screw down the mount, however it could be tipped over quite easily. The hardware that comes with the camera is typical, some simple molly bolts and some tap in tiedowns for the power cable. The firmware was very easy to update once the camera was connected to WIFI and app. The firmware update took a few minutes, but it just rebooted and powered back on with the latest firmware available. Security stickers are included which is a nice touch and the instructions were super easy. To pair the device I just had to scan the QR code on the camera. No fiddling with holding in a setup button or anything like that. The base of the camera is plastic, but seems sturdy enough. The swivel mount is functional, but you need to tighten the lock ring really tight to give it a good solid feel.I’m happy over all with this camera.

Great brand
After using two TOUCAN products for weeks, I’m now a fan. Their app is better. It doesn’t pop up an annoying window every 5 minutes demanding that you click a button to continue watching. It doesn’t do all that nonsense the other two major brands do (which I have 5+ cameras going per brand). I have over 15 cameras going already for my tiny house. The benefit of this one is it’s a regular plug (with an extension included), and you don’t have to hardware to your home using an electrician. You need to measure the length and make sure you don’t need to also pick up an additional extension cable. I just keep using old existing cables, then change what is plugged into them at the end.InstallationInside the box, there is a paper with a QR code you scan with your phone. Don’t be confused by the support one saying “Thank you” on the paper. That’s the wrong one. You also don’t need the one offering installation instructions. Look for the page with two QR codes that says either Android or iOS. That’s the right ones. That sends you to the app store to download the TOUCAN app. You’re required to create an account and validate your email to activate your account. Then you log in. Next, you need to hold down a hidden button for setup. The camera does a voice command to let you it’s ready to set up. On the app, you select add device. The app then shows a QR code on the phone screen that you hold up against the camera on the doorbell. It’s a bit confusing because two things on the doorbill look like cameras. That was the hardest point, getting the camera to recognize the QR code. I really struggled with that portion. I kept holding it higher, lower, away from it, closer to it. FINALLY, after forever, it was recognized. Now the camera works! It then wanted you to do a firmware update. I proceeded with the update. Now it was all ready to go.While they say no subscription required, they do offer TouCan Pro for $30 a year and TouCan Elite for $100 a year. Some of the better features are “video in video”, Holiday Auto-Greetings, Saved/Bookmark Recordings, and 10 shared users per camera. Customized event recording time of 30 or 90 seconds. Customized siren duration. 7/90 day recording history.AppThe app is really good. It’s better than the 10 other camera apps I’ve used before. They also aren’t begging you for subscriptions or covering you in ads while you’re trying to do things. I began to get notifications for motion. You can do the typical things like set the motion area, turn on/off notifications, or set windows of time to turn off notifications. Do not disturb mode.

Great floodlight security camera with a loud siren
I ordered this floodlight security camera for the back corner of my house. It was very easy to install and it connected to my phone right away. The floodlight is extremely bright and lights up a large area. The siren is very loud and would definitely scare someone away. I love how easy it is to use. I can get right on my phone and check the footage anytime I want and the best part is he don’t need to pay any kind of subscription! The picture quality is great and comes in super clear and high resolution. I would definitely highly recommend this floodlight security camera.

Privacy concerns ruined it for me.
To be honest, I wasn’t able to fully review or comfortably use the camera because of privacy concerns during setup. The app required location access during camera setup, which immediately raised a red flag for me. After looking into their privacy policy, which you have to agree to, I found that they also collect standard data like device information, IP address, and usage activity, and may share that data with third-party service providers for analytics and other purposes. While this kind of data collection isn’t unusual for smart home devices, it does make the product feel less privacy-focused than some alternatives. Combined with the required app permissions, it made me hesitant to proceed with fully installing or testing the camera.I want a security system that warns me of dangers, not one that spies on me.

Not perfect
I’ve been really happy with this camera. the quality is good, the light works well enough and offers 24 hr cloud storage for free. The only issue that i’ve had is the motion detection isn’t that great, it often misses certain color clothes or smaller animals, so I would reccomend using this a supplemental camera instead.
