    Works just fine.
Got this a couple of days ago. Plugged it in, ran some plain water through it initially to flush out any residue, then brewed some coffee. It brews very quickly. The coffee it made was just fine. It is not truly a 12-cup coffee maker; seems more like a nine- or 10-cup maker to me. It reminds me of a larger version of the simple four-cup coffee makers you find in hotel rooms. Easy to clean, compact size. You need about six inches of overhead clearance to open the top and pour water into it. For one to three people, it seems like a good size coffee maker. If you run out of coffee, since it brews very quickly, you can have a fresh, full (“12 cups”) pot of coffee brewed in under five minutes, faster if you’re only brewing four to six cups. Simple on-off switch, brew interrupt works flawlessly. It’s a simple machine that works well. Glad I bought it. Hope it lasts as long as my old Chef Mate coffee maker, which died a couple weeks ago after 12 years of service!

    durable and simple
my mom had a Proctor Silex for over 15 years. Finally, one day it stopped working. I bought her another coffee maker and immediately she complained that the coffee was not hot enough. So I returned it and started searching for high ratings of coffee makers. Most were complex machines that my mother in her senior years wanted no part of. She wanted a simple coffee maker that did only one thing – make coffee the way she was used to.I looked at her broken coffee maker and determined it was identical to the one listed here. I purchased it. When it arrived my mother thought that I had contacted the president of Proctor Sixex himself. She was elated and very happy. Most of all it made her the perfect cup of coffee at the temperature she expected.Based on her story to me, this is a great coffee maker. I have to agree that it is very durable and simple. Most of all the price is much better than my personal coffee maker. If you want quality and durability then you cannot go wrong with this brand and model.

    192˚F.
I had to replace my Braun, which died after about seven years. I needed something very simple because I don’t have $100 to spend on a coffeemaker, Brews hot and makes good coffee. I can’t reach into the machine to wash it but I can put an elongated scrub brush in and clean it that way. Good design. I never have to remove the carafe’s lid. It opens very wide and I can get my hand in there to wash it with a sponge. For some reason it stays white. I usually get some brown staining after a few months of use but I haven’t seen much of that with this. Maybe because it’s new. I don’t know.Keeps most insects out. If you have bugs they really won’t be able to bother this much but nothing is completely sealed of course it needs to steam.I wish it came with a reusable basket. I but a gold filter and it fits kind of strangely inside leaving grounds in the basket holder which will land in the bottom of the carafe so be careful of that last drop.Brews hot so the full flavor comes out. I measured the coffee and the water run through and it’s consistently 192 degrees Fahrenheit.

Makes good coffee, but you should know…
Overall, this is a good coffee maker. But I have a two issues with it:1) “Shrink-flation” seems now to have affected the coffee maker. A standard cup of coffee is about 6 ounces for a mug and 8 ounces for a cup at a coffee shop. This coffee maker comes in at a tiny 4.3 ounces per cup! I poured 32 ounces of water into the coffee carafe and it came up to the 7.5 cup level on the side of the carafe; 32 divided by 7.5 is 4.3 ounces per cup. This required some trial and error to figure out the right amount of coffee grounds to use in order to get a good tasting cup.2) This coffee maker heats water very quickly! This may be a good thing if you’re in a hurry. But it drips the hot water through the grounds so quickly that the coffee turns out weak unless you add more grounds to compensate for the speed at which it is made. I now have to use about 2 scoops more than I did in my previous coffee maker for the same strength of flavor. The 3 year warranty is a bonus when most other coffee makers are 1 year or even 90 days.

    Works just fine.
I bought proctor silex before and it lasted for years. This one doesn’t have a water gauge though. I bought this to replace a mr. coffee I also bought on Amazon which broke at the switch after only six months. Works fine. Here’s hoping it will last as long as the other.

Fantastic coffee maker – excellent bargain
We purchased this coffee maker as a replacement for our 19-year-old Proctor-Silex coffee maker which was still going strong. The carafe finally broke and we decided to replace the entire unit. Proctor-Silex delivers again! The pause-and-serve feature is great, the pot does not drip at all, and best of all, there is no annoying “safety feature” that turns the pot off after 2 hours. We have the pot hooked into a standard light timer so that the coffee maker turns on in the morning and stays on until late afternoon – no reason to mess with the unreliable timers built in to most coffee makers. The brewed coffee is fantastic. The unit is virtually silent until the very end of the brew process when the last few drops of water are brewed.Go ahead and buy this coffee maker. 5-stars.

A great value for the buck
This coffee maker is a great value for the amount spent! No toots or whistles, but makes a great cup of coffee in a very short period of time! Since the day I received the coffee maker we have made at least one pot a day, and I have not been disappointed! Simple coffee maker, with one on/off switch, easy removal of coffee filters, cleaning machine, and makes a fresh pot of coffee in about 3-5 minutes! If this one quits I would get another one just like it!
