Easy install and configuration with existing NVR with Onvif compatability
We’ve owned a security system NVR for a few years now and finally decided it was time to install a doorbell camera. I chose a Reolink camera because I’ve read positive reviews for their products in the past. I wanted a PoE camera that was onvif compatible, hoping that it would work with my existing AvertX recorder, which is compliant with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). I recieved the Reolink doorbell camera and installed it in the same spot our existing doorbell was mounted previously. This is a wired PoE camera and in order to keep the install hole small, it required me to wire my own ethernet cable with my favorite RJ45 “pass through” connectors. I chose cat5e cable because it was thinner than the cat6a and cat8 cables that I have. The Reolink unit comes with an adapter to tilt the camera at a 15° angle which I chose to use since our sidewalk curves off to one side. I was able to install this, and configure it to work with our AvertX NVR all in the same day. The Reolink app was easy to install, works well and notifies me of any activity captured by the doorbell camera. The picture is crisp, the two-way audio is a great feature and the ability to play quick reply messages to visitors at the door is a nice feature. You can also record your own custom quick reply messages. There are different sounds for visitors, person, or any motion, you can also opt to turn these sounds off. To be honest, the only thing about the Reolink doorbell camera that was disappointing to me was the fact that there are only 10 different sounds to choose from. The ability to add more sounds or make custom sounds for the different motion events would have been a huge plus in what is already a solid performing camera. If you’re looking for a great doorbell camera that performs well and requires no monthly fees, Reolink has you covered!

High-Quality Video & Privacy — The Perfect PoE Doorbell
I really like that this is a PoE (Power over Ethernet) unit. We already had a Cat6 cable running to the front door, so installation was incredibly easy and the connection is rock solid. The included chime works perfectly as well, making it a complete out-of-the-box solution. The camera works very well, and I have absolutely no complaints regarding the video quality; it’s sharp and clear. One of the best features is the ability to store video on-premises instead of paying a company a monthly fee to store it for me. I’ve always been concerned with privacy when a third party has access to my video, so local storage is a huge win.For those looking to take things to the next level, this doorbell easily incorporates into Home Assistant. This allows for advanced camera automations you may not get with more “locked-down” brands.

Great Doorbell Camera—Completes the System
Great Doorbell Camera—Completes the SystemThis is the latest addition to my camera setup and pretty much rounds out the system for now, with plans to add a couple WiFi cameras later. The camera itself is very wide angle and produces a sharp, clear image. Motion detection works well, and night vision is crisp and reliable. The doorbell function and included chime are a nice touch and integrate well into the overall setup.I’m running this on PoE through my NVR system, and like the rest of my setup, it’s been solid and easy to manage. This is just one component of a full system I’m running with multiple Reolink cameras (see my other reviews), and everything ties together well in one app.If you’re looking to build out a complete home camera system, I can definitely recommend Reolink based on my experience so far.One System. Complete Coverage.

Will work with older NVR after firmware upgrade
We’re running an older Reolink NVR (RLN8-410-E H3MB16), and at first it wouldn’t recognize the Reolink Video Doorbell PoE Camera. I thought it might be a compatibility issue, but it turned out to be firmware-related. After doing a firmware upgrade via USB, the NVR immediately picked up the doorbell camera with no further issues. What I noticed:• Camera wasn’t detected until firmware update was completed• USB firmware upgrade resolved the compatibility issue• Once updated, everything connected smoothly within the Reolink system• We haven’t connected it to the included doorbell chime yet so can’t comment on the interior notifications• The doorbell records 24/7, so it essentially functions like another camera, while still offering doorbell features for visitors• Some smart detection features may be limited or reduced due to the older NVR, but it still gives us valuable extra camera coverage• We prefer a PoE doorbell since we already had an Ethernet line in place—no need for separate power, just a PoE injector or switchOverall, it works well within an existing Reolink setup and adds useful coverage. Just keep in mind that older NVRs may not fully support all newer detection features, even though the core functionality works.

Great Doorbell Cam for Smart Home Setups
I’ve been running the Reolink doorbell camera with my Frigate NVR, and honestly, it’s been awesome. The viewing angle is spot-on — people standing close look super clear, though it’s not the best for catching details further out.Live view is smooth both in Frigate and Home Assistant, with barely any lag, which makes it feel really responsive. The talk-back feature works nicely through the app, and I even got it working inside Frigate. Still trying to get it going in Home Assistant, but that’s more on me than the camera. My only small gripe is that you can’t record your own automated messages. It’s not a huge deal, but it would be such a cool feature if Reolink added it in a future update.Overall, I’d call this a solid 4.5 stars, but since Amazon doesn’t do half-stars, I’m giving it a full 5. If you’re into smart home setups, this camera plays really well with advanced integrations and is definitely worth it.

Such a great product. I love our doorbell. Just great. The video quality is perfect, the speaker and microphone is great and it’s like another security camera, as well as intercom. I love being able to talk through it for delivery instructions etc.

I purchased this camera on august 09, 2023. It has an excellent 2K+ picture and lots of great features. I really like its ability to store my videos on a FTP server. The video storage is limited only by the hard disk storage on my server. I don’t have to pay for cloud storage and I already had several computers to use as a FTP server. My neighbour pays a monthly fee for his storage. I was worried that it wouldn’t survive the harsh Newfoundland winters. It worked fine during winter of 2023 but began to fog up last winter. We get a lot of freeze thaw cycles and a lot of wind rain and snow. I couldn’t really fault the camera. I also have two Reolink RLC-810A 4K cameras with the same features and they have been working great through two winters. I got in contact with Reolink support and they were good enough to send me a replacement camera. I installed it today and it works great. Overall I am quite pleased with my Reolink cameras. When I need another camera I’ll definitely purchase another one from Reolink. The cameras and support are top notch. Thank you Reolink.

Great for seeing who is at your front door! Comes with all the mounting equipment you will need and is easy to setup. Have this integrated with home assistant. You don’t need any subscriptions for this. I have the camera facing south on my front door so the image does get washed out once in a while since it has full on sun shining on it. But when the sun starts to go away, it’s great. It even detects animals in my across the street neighbours house. Make sure you update the firmware when you get it, it fixes some issues with the remote door bell and detection. It does have a small delay when you are trying to talk with someone through the doorbell, but its no big issue. I wish you can record your own messages for when the door bell rings.
