The best of it’s kind and worth the price.
I’ve only been using this driveway alarm for a few weeks but I’m totally impressed with its performance, construction, range and reliability. For over 20-years I’ve gone through a variety of these devices (including magnetics, PIR sensors and electric eyes). All others have been problematic in one way or another. The $250 magnetic hardwired unit burned out within 2-years, the electric eye wouldn’t stay on target, the other PIRs all eventually either leaked and/or burned out. All these previous units also gave loads of false alarms. The Rodann is exceptional. It’s strongly constructed and the MADE-IN AMERICA quality of its electronics is evident. I’m using the transmitter on a driveway 300 feet from the receiver. The signal manages to traverse that distance as well as penetrate a concrete walled basement with no difficulty, so I sort of believe that it really does have a 1000 ft clear range as advertised. The PIR beam is very narrow allowing you to aim it specifically to avoid hot spots and I’ve yet to get a single false alarm. The weather seal is very tight but in order to access the transmitter battery (6-months to 1-year) you have to open the case up via 2 recessed screws. The screws are torqued down rather tightly (in order to maintain the weather seal) and can be a chore to open but it’s closing the unit back up where caution must be observed. If those screws are not tightened sufficiently, the seal will be loose and ineffective. Even with this slight caveat regarding the transmitter screws, the Rodann is hands-down the best driveway alarm out there. The price is high compared to other similar devices, but you get what you pay for. Also, although it is not stated on Amazon, the company warranties their products for 1-year. They don’t sell directly to the public but can be contacted at 1-800-366-7010.

Works great, no false alarms. Perfect for our needs./ 9mo later, still great
2023, still lovin’ it.==============9 months later: Still love it, reliable, no false alarms, alerts us to anyone coming through our front gate. I’ve changed the batteries once, but not sure that was even necessary b/c it was still working ok.=================We live on a small ranch with very little traffic on our road and when anyone comes to our house we can’t hear them until they are at the door. So I installed the sensor at our driveway gate about 350 ft clear distance from the receiver unit making sure there are no wind-moving shrubs in the sensing field. After 3 weeks including a massive thunderstorm, event, the unit is flawless, no annoying false alarms and it gives a ‘ding-dong’ door bell chime when cars or people come through the gate so we don’t get surprised.I like the fact that the chime has a volume control and it keeps a counter.Installation was simple just following directions.Couple of points to note: 1) the two screws on the battery access for the sender are in very tight and you should make sure they are reinstalled tight enough to seal the rubber gasket well. (Would have been better to have 4 screws in my opinion.) If you don’t get them tightened back, I think the unit could leak in rain water.2) I used the premium lithium AA batteries, hopefully the life will be even longer.3) I wish they had a camo version… Its not really obvious, but I may paint mine at some point.

reliable, good product
this is a very good product. first ‘driveway’ sensor i had was a chamberlain. had it for a month or two.. it had false alerts. far from perfect. after the grass started growing in spring of ’18, the wife ran it over.. researched driveway sensors again. got a new one. the rodann. i didnt really want to pay over 100 bucks, but this is by far more accurate and and realiable than my previous sensors. i get false readings, but ususally only on windy days, where maybe 40 feet away is a pine tree that moves with the wind. i get deer all the time passing through, and it does get obnoxious at times.. so bad that i’ve had to turn down the volume. my sensor is about 200 feet from my house. it has picked up every single car/truck/suv that hass passed, also whenever my kid gets the mail or gets off the bus, it goes off. 3 kids, and i usually get 3 beeps/alerts. i have the sensor mounted a treated 4×4 about.. may 12-13 inches from the ground. I would highly recommend this sensor. mounting and getting everything setup was fairly straight forward. just follow the included directions. i ordered a cheap imported ‘light’ that i can attach to it and run down to the basement, so that it will blink. i have not connected it to the receiver. but i do appreciate that the receiver has the capability. i have not yet, but i’ll probably upload photos.

Lot of false alarms
This is a reliable product at a reasonable price — easy to install but — it goes off during the day multiple times for no apparent reason. I have adjusted the sensitivity so it doesn’t pick up my neighbor’s driveway traffic 100 yards away — it’s that sensitive) but if a leaf blows across the driveway, it goes off. I may replace it with one with a beam.
