More effective than “mesh” type of detector.
Function is superior to alternative water sensors that signal an alarm but are difficult to kill the alarm. Wiping the mesh type sensors is is not effective. Had to wipe with alcohol to cull the alarm.

Piercingly loud alarm alerts you to water leaks!
This set of three water leak alert systems work. The battery pack/control unit can be affixed to a wall using the included two-sided adhesive pads. The two-pronged sensor would then hang down from the wire with the prongs both touching the bottom surface (under your sink or the floor, for example). The wire is has soft bends in it so it does not hang straight down like a weighted plumb line would so it is difficult to get the two prongs to retain contact with the lower surface. The sensor wants to lay on its side which is problematic as the water detection only works when both prongs make contact with water and that may not happen if the sensor is on its side as the prongs would then be up off the lower surface. There is a hole in the center of the sensor body through which one could screw it to the wall. What I did to ensure the sensor with prongs is situated so that it would detect a water leak is securely tape it in place. After I put water in the area, the piercingly-loud siren sounded and I quickly shifted the side switch from the ON to the OFF position. Instead of adhering the control unit to the wall, I wrapped it around the horizontal piping under the sink.On one side of the controller is a white push button for volume control that can be pressed and then tested by putting the prongs in water and repeating until the volume of the siren alert is as desired. If you are away from your home for an hour, day, week, or month and the alarm is sounding, the problem could be a disaster by the time you discover the leak as these sensors do not provide a push alert to your phone (as some other leak detectors do).Put these under your kitchen and bathroom sinks, by your water heater, basement drain, sump pump area and elsewhere where a water might leak go undetected until it becomes a problem! Good value for the set of three detectors.

Makes loud noise when sensor is wet. It’s not “smart.” It’s not automatic.
TL;DR: This is a great water leak detector- it makes a loud noise when the sensor gets wet. It does not do a lot of the other things claimed by the seller. This does detect leakage very well. When the 2 contacts on the probe are in contact with water, it makes a very loud noise that continues until the probe is no longer wet. That part of it earns a 5 star rating. The device consists of a sensor connected to the device body with a wire. Also included is a piece of double stick foam tape that is cut to the size of the body, to be used to secure the body. I did not use it for this purpose- the tape is very strong and will make it difficult to replace the batteries when needed. I did cut a small piece of the sticky foam to secure the sensor in place. The body can be placed anywhere that will not subject it to being submerged. Why only 3 stars? The seller totally oversells the capabilities of this simple device.1. It’s sold as “Smart Water Leak Detector.” It is not “smart-” there is no network interaction, it does nothing other than make a noise when it senses water. The caption on the 4th picture states that when a leak is detected “alarm notification will be sent throuhg (sic) app.” There is no app.At this price point, I certainly would not expect it to have Z-wave or WiFi connectivity, but some buyers may be misled by these gross exaggerations of the device’s capability.2.It is shown in a fish tank, with the caption, “When water reaches a preset level, your fish tank can automatically stop adding water.” No, there is no mechanism for this- no contacts to connect to an electronically controlled valve that would close to turn the water off. All it does is make a noise.3. The Amazon listing says that the alarm volume is adjustable. The instruction sheet says to use the “Set” button to adjust the volume, On all 3 of the detectors I tested, the “Set” button functions as a Mute- turns the alarm off completely. There is no variation in the alarm volume.4. There is a claimed Low Battery reminder, but nothing to indicate what the reminder is. I expect that it will chirp periodically when the battery is low but I’ll have to wait to find out. There is no hint of how long the batteries will last under normal use.

Works great
Great product for the price if you need warning for a leak. Placed in cellar to alarm when water starts coming in during hard rain. Attached sensor to piece of wood so two contacts touch floor. When water touches both contacts alarm sounds.
