Works Well and Syncs Instantly With Tapo App
This Tapo temperature and humidity monitor has been accurate, easy to read, and simple to integrate into an existing setup. The E‑Ink display is clear from any angle, and the readings update reliably without the screen glare you get from LCD units. Connecting it to the Tapo app took only a moment, and it synced on the first try with no troubleshooting. The sensor responds quickly to changes in the room, and the app history makes it easy to track trends over time. Overall, it’s a dependable monitor with a clean display and seamless app integration.

Turned my dumb humidifier into a smart humidifier
First of all, this is much smaller than it appeared to be in the photos.Once you set everything up, you can easily set “comfort zones” for both temperature and humidity in the app allowing you to get notifications if it reads values outside of those zones. You can also set it to balanced mode, or high sensitivity mode. In high sensitivity mode it updates every .3 degrees Celsius or 3% humidity. In balanced mode it updates every .5 degrees Celsius or 6% humidity, which consumes less power. As far as I can tell, based on the available data in the app it still updates every 15 minutes regardless of this setting. The only question is how far it will be able to go outside of the comfort zone before it ignores that 15 minute interval and pushes the data, giving you an alert. For what I wanted this to do, it’s perfect. When paired with a Tapo smart plug and a “dumb” humidifier, it can automatically start that humidifier if your room drops below a specific value, and stop that humidifier when it exceeds a different value. This is exactly what I wanted to help keep my expensive guitars humidified while still using my preferred older evaporative humidifier.*update 8/28/2025*After using this in my “guitar room” to monitor my humidity, I was impressed with both the accuracy, and the alerts. The graphs of humidify and temperature over time, ease of use, and quality of alerts made me buy a 2nd one for my tuck-under garage. I live in a place that gets very cold in the winter, and I have water pipes that run through my garage. I’ve had them freeze and crack, which as you can imagine isn’t fun. Not only can I see the current temperature in my garage whenever I walk past this, I can also easily set a temperature alert that I’m confident I will get, that will let me know if it seems to be getting too cold in my garage so I can address the problem before my pipes freeze. The magnetic back on this device meant I could just stick it to one of my metal shelves, so I didn’t have to drill a hole, rely on tape, or actually do anything at all to mount it. As far as I’m concerned, this device has already paid for itself in saved worry just for that, but it’s also kept my guitars from drying out an cracking. One thing I’d like to note, is that this device can work directly with other TP-Link lights. Not only do I get notifications on my phone if my garage gets too cold. but I have also been able to tell it to turn on my bedroom light, make it red, and set it to 100%, so even in the middle of the night, I’ll get woken up by a red light in my bedroom so I can make sure my pipes don’t freeze.I also tried sticking it in my refrigerator, and to my surprise it was able to connect and update the temperature from inside the fridge.

Small Gadget, Big Insurance Discount
I didn’t buy this because I suddenly wanted to track my home’s humidity trends. I bought it because my insurance company offered me a discount—if I could show I had a fire/environment monitor. This Tapo fits that requirement, and it’s way cheaper than watching my premiums climb.Setup was easy: pop in the batteries, pair it to Wi-Fi with the app, and you’re in business. It tracks temperature and humidity in real time, logs the history, and even sends alerts if conditions change beyond your set limits. The readings matched closely with a thermometer/hygrometer I already trust, so I’m confident it’s accurate enough for both peace of mind and insurance paperwork. The nice thing about it being battery-powered is that I can place it anywhere without worrying about cords or outlets—and it keeps running even during a power outage. The downside? The app feels like it was designed for people who want to integrate it into a full smart home, so getting straight to the historical logs takes more taps than it should. In the end, it’s a small, portable gadget that paid for itself instantly through the insurance discount. Not a showpiece for your living room, but it quietly does its job while you forget it’s even there—until you need it.

Cheap, reliable, good product
Super easy to setup and use, easy to see, and they see to be accurate. For the cost I would definitely recommend as a stand alone unit, but even better you can link them into the Tapo base unit to use them for automation. These are setup to allow me to turn on AC units, dehumidifier and humidifiers. They really are handy as a whole system. They are compact, but also easy to see from across the room with the display. Super cheap and great value in my opinion

Perfect little device does what it set out to do!
Thoroughly impressed by these sensors. The unit is small in size, but the relatively large E-ink display is vivid and easy to read from distance. The accuracy and consistency across the 3 devices I purchased is impressive. I set them up next to each other for the last couple of days and they are all displaying within +/- 0.1°F and 1% relative humidity of each other and many times all exactly the same readout. The hub is on a different floor and there’s no issues with connectivity. Compatible with Home Assistant through the required hub which can be linked through the Tapo server or locally with Matter (beta as of this review). Tapo app is easy to use if you want to use their ecosystem.Overall I feel it’s a great value versus some of the competitors!

Great but not for low temps
These little T&H sensors are fantastic. The display is easy to read, pairing with the hub was simple, the low frequency RF goes through walls/obstacles easily, and battery life so far seems to be very good. My biggest complaint is that they won’t display temps under 32F/0C, so they can’t be used for things like refrigerator/freezer temp monitoring. They will report lower temps through the app, but only down to 25F or so. If they supported a wider temp range they would be much more useful.

Works very well, battery lasts long. Great range to the hub (yes you need to get the hub for it to work).

it’s good but be careful that the and this device are UK or both USor they will not detect each other
Rcd –
If you have a HUB for EU/UK, the US sensor will not work, make sure you buy the HUB and sensor devices for the same region
Chucho –
Es mucho más pequeño de lo que esperaba, lamentablemente necesitas un hub adicional para conectarlo a tu celular y tener control del mismo
