Mostly ok but had some duds.
So far I’ve bought six and four of them work reliably. Two keep dropping offline. I’ve tried replacing the battery and keeping it closer to other zigbee devices, but it just seems to be a dud. The ones that work are reliably online. I have them integrated in home assistant and have a monitoring automation to notify me if any drop offline. I like that they have sensors on the top and bottom, so they’ll trigger if they get dripped on or if the water is coming from elsewhere.

    Works with Hubitat
This HAOZEE zigbee water leak sensor is a well built small smart device. The package comes with a little plastic piece that is a tool to unscrew the battery compartment cap. The sensor has contacts for water leak detection on the bottom as well as on the top. So it should be able to detect flooding and also overhead leaks.Since it does not have a built in alarm, you will have to rely on automations or notifications from your smart home system to alert you. The zigbee signal strength of this device is also reliable. I was able to pair it with my hubitat hub with only moderate difficulty. At first the device was found and it got stuck in initialize phase. However on my second attempt, it was paired successfully.I did have to install custom device driver in Hubitat using the Hubitat Package Manager. The one I used is ‘Tuya NEO coolcam zigbee water leak sensor’ I tested it out by putting the device in shallow tray of water and it alerted me that it was wet. I dried it up and then tested the contacts on the top by spilling water on the sensor and it again changed from dry to wet.I have had poor luck with another brand’s zigbee devices constantly dropping off the mesh network in the past. Which was probably due to their non-standard zigbee implementation. For now the HAOZEE water leak sensor is performing well and I will continue to monitor it for how reliable its zigbee 3.0 is at staying connected. But based on my short experience of about a month using this device, I would say at under fifteen bucks this is a great deal and would highly recommend it.

Works out of the box with Home Assistant
I have had some minor leaking with my AC unit, which I normally find out when I see moisture in the leaking tray when changing the filter. While there is never a real problem, a small amount of water could mean a minor issue, which can be easily fixed when I am aware that it is going on.This Zigbee water leak sensor is hopefully the resolution to my issues. This is a small device with a button/feedback light on top (press firmly on the logo), 2 metal surfaces on the top and 2 on the bottom. The bottom ones are slightly recessed so it does not made direct contact with the surface. If the two surfaces are shorted (put holding a wire or paperclip across them for testing), the button glows red to denote it detected water. No sound is produced.I never bothered with Tuya, just hooked it up directly to Home Assistant over Zigbee. In HA, go to the Zegbee integration to add a new device. Press the button 3 seconds and it shows up, ready for configuration. The integration shows 3 sensors:- Identify: Pressing this does not work for me, but the name tells me all I need to identify the device.- Battery Level: This comes with the battery included.- Moisture: The star of the show. Putting this thing on a we surface, or just wetting your finger while touching the contacts, changes the state. This is everything I need to take any actions needed when moisture is detected. And for the price, I think it is a pretty cheap early-warning-system.Recommended!

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. It was easy to pair to my Hubitat hub but I’ve tested it repeatedly and it often doesn’t detect moisture even when it’s set into a shallow layer of water. I need something much more reliable.

VERY fast but battery terminals are weak
Out of the box, this device didn’t want to power on. I realized it rattled when I shook it. I opened the battery cover and saw that the CR2032 battery was loose. The bent metal terminals were just pushed back too far and not connecting. I bent them closer so they squeezed the side of the battery and now it works. I suspect they’re too thin and will weaken again over time though.I’m using this connected to Home Assistant via a Sonoff zigbee stick. The unit was detected quickly once I fixed the battery issue. Now that it’s online, it is SO fast. I just wet my fingers and contacted the terminals and it registered as wet in Home Assistant INSTANTLY. When I took my fingers away, it immediately cleared. It’s super fast.It has water sensing terminals on top and bottom. So if water is dripping onto it, it’ll detect it with just a couple drops. If water is on the floor under it, it’ll take more. The terminals are on opposite sides with solid plastic in between, so the wet area has to be as big as the device.

    Handsome and works well
This classy water sensor has a good look. The top of it (the teardrop icon) functions as a configuration button; you hold it down for 3 seconds to enable pairing. It has contacts on both the top and the bottom, so it can sense water on the floor as well as water that drips on top of it. The device does not have a temperature sensor or anything else (other than the standard battery level reporting).Connecting the device to my Hubitat Elevation hub was easy but not perfectly simple. It was at first recognized as a ZigBee motion sensor. Thankfully, all I had to do was change the driver to the built-in Aquara ZigBee Water Sensor and it worked. Also, despite what the page says, the device uses a 3V CR2032 battery, which is included.
