Identical quality and styling to the original Samsung versions
These sensors are really nice. They combine a compact form factor with a very functional unit that both senses water as well as temperature, which is a great combination. The only downsides are that they don’t have the long range offered in newer protocols like LoRa, and the batteries they use are expensive to replace. The batteries do last a long time, but they aren’t cheap when they do need to be replaced.A non-standard usage I did as well — I created my own “cable” leak sensor by soldering moisture cable leads to one of the two sets of exposed sensor contacts on one of these. It worked great! I’d love to see a native cable-based sensor that works with these, but it is nice that these are not too hard to modify given their design.Aeotec seems to have fully picked up the ball from Samsung on the product lines. I wish they’d bring the prices down some, but it is nice that the Samsung product line didn’t get terminated altogether when Samsung elected to cease selling them.

Best moister detector I have found.
Aeotec is dependable! Easy integration with Home Assistant. Detects the slightest amount of water. Rapid response time. Nice audible alarm. Worth every penny. I have installed several of them in my house.

Works well with old SmartThings hub
The Aeotec is working better than the round-type leak sensor that I got to replace a “drowned” SmartThings sensor for which I can’t find a replacement. The range is good and it doesn’t drop out.Setup was easy also, when connecting to the SmartThings Hub (Z-Wave DSK) in that you just have to scan the QR code on the bottom and pull the tab on the battery while in the SmartThings app.So far, the battery is lasting much better than the round type.5 stars – I’ll keep an eye on this brand to get one or 2 more as backups.

It’s not waterproof … 💯 Self-inflicted
Setting up with Hubitat was pretty straight forward.I wanted to use it to turn off a dehumidifier when/if a drain backed up. Worked like a charm swapping from dry to wet and back during testing. So I wanted to test that if it would function when the water level raised over the contacts, so I placed it in a container and allowed water to slowly immerse it.Should have thought that through more carefully … The innards of the sensor became wet and now it is no longer functioning. There is another version that is about the same price (it is already on order) that (should) be submersible, but without the temperature sensor; upgrading $10 or so will get a immersible probe with temperature and humidity sensors on the ‘dry’ end.Note: Take the unstarred features with a grain of salt, I used it for less that an hour.

ez to set up with a smart things hub
so ez to connect and works great with smart things hub. What I like about this system is they don’t make it obsolete in 2 years-making good use of your investment. We’ve not had a flood so can’t address the sensor’s performance, but it’s got temp accurately and is only sipping the battery.

Good leak detection
These devices work well to warn of a water leak. I have them set to actuate a valve that closes my water main in the event of leak detection anywhere in the house.

Buying more!
Works well, and detected a leak under my kitchen sink. Saved me potentially $$$ of damage! After about 1 year of service, battery level is still at 70%. I’m buying a few more to put anywhere there is water involved (under sinks, dishwasher, hw heater, bathtub, etc.). Bonus: there’s a temp sensor too, so you get that added data for your HA metrics.

I have many Aeotec / Smartthings sensors, the build quality of these sensors is always brilliant. They are a little pricey, so I have tried other well known brands to help keep costs down. However the build quality of these is so much higher than the other brands. I will definitely buy again.Additionally this sensor uses a CR2 battery rather than the button cell batteries. Whilst I haven’t had this long enough to test battery life I expect it to last a long time which is based on my experience of Aeotec devices that use the larger CR123A batteries.Setting up the device is a breeze as it always is. Put the hub into pairing mode, pull the battery tab, name the device and give it a location. Simple and painless.I have done some initial testing (as I always do when I set up a sensor for the first time) the sensor responds instantly to a puddle of water and also to water droplets on the top of the sensor.Bottom line: buy a quality product like this or buy twice!
