Aqara Sensors

[Notes] An Aqara Hub is required and sold separately. Not compatible with hubs from other brands. Requires a secure 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection for Hub M2, M1S, E1, M1S Gen2, G2H Pro, and G2H; or 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi for Camera Hub G3. (Hub M2 also supports wired Ethernet via RJ45.). Pair the Zigbee Water Leak Sensor with an Aqara Hub before connecting to Apple HomeKit, Google Home, or Alexa. For a stable Zigbee connection, ensure the sensor is placed within 10 meters(33 ft) of the Aqara Hub.
[Proximity] To ensure a stable connection, keep the Aqara Water Leak Sensor within 400 inches (approximately 10 meters) of the Aqara Zigbee Hub, and place the hub within the same range of your Wi-Fi router. Ensure both are connected to the same local area network (LAN). Zigbee2MQTT and comparable third-party USB dongles are not officially supported by Aqara. Full product functionality may be limited or unavailable.
[Drip and Leak Detection] Equipped with highly sensitive probes that detect water levels as low as 0.5 mm (approximately 0.02 inch), this water leak detector instantly sends alerts to your phone and triggers the local alarm on the Aqara Hub whenever a leak is detected.
[Home automation] The water leak detectors for home can control and trigger other Aqara devices when water is detected, allowing you to take prompt action to keep your home safe. ***Requires Aqara Hub, not third-party hub.
[Wireless & Compact Design] No wiring or screws are required. The small, sleek design allows you to place the Zigbee leak sensor on any flat surface in your kitchen, basement, laundry room, or any area you want to monitor. Recommended placements include near or under toilets, water heaters, washing machines, dishwashers, sinks, fish tanks, sump pumps, or any area prone to leaks.
[Industry-Leading Quality] Durable IP67 water-proof housing with rust-proof exterior coating. Please remove the battery tab before use. If the device does not work, check the battery level. For any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Perfect for Home Assistant – Small and Reliable
Very happy with these sensors! They’re surprisingly small, which makes placement easy in tight spots like under sinks and behind the washing machine. Connected directly to my Home Assistant hub without any issues, setup was straightforward. The Zigbee connection is stable and responsive. Having peace of mind knowing I’ll get alerts if there’s a leak is worth every penny. If you’re running Home Assistant and need water leak detection, these are excellent. Highly recommend the 3-pack for covering multiple areas.

Excellent water leak sensors — easy to set up and reliable!
I’m really impressed with this Aqara Water Leak Sensor 3 Pack. Setup was quick and seamless using the Aqara Hub, and the Zigbee connection has been rock-solid ever since. The sensors are compact and easy to place—perfect for under sinks, near appliances, or in the basement. I tested them with a small amount of water, and they instantly triggered an alert through the app. Notifications come in fast, which gives great peace of mind.I also love that it works with IFTTT, so you can integrate it into your broader smart home setup. This is a great investment for anyone looking to prevent water damage and stay ahead of potential leaks. Highly recommend!

    Working with SmartThings Edge driver
I purchased this just to see if it would work with SmartThings with the new edge drivers even though Aqara says they do not support it. It works. I’ve only had it connected for about a week, but so far no issues. I first tried to pair the device without installing any custom drivers. It would pair but only as “device” with no functionality. I finally installed a custom driver, paired again and, boom, there it was.You will need to do an internet search for the driver, accept the invitation, and then install the edge driver for the Water Leak Sensor. I then paired the device by scanning for new devices, but I think you could also do the “add device by brand” process. The top of the device really is a button. Don’t be shy about pushing down on it. After pairing, you will need to press the top button for one second to do a range test. That will perform the initial communication with SmartThings. After that, you should be good to go. If you see a message about “this device has not updated”, do the range test again. Some people have reported issues with the device losing communication with SmartThings and dropping off the network. I have not had that issue yet. I will update the review if I do.

    Just wasn’t what I wanted.
I think Aqara is missing the mark. They claim to be Zigbee connection, but from what I read, if you don’t use an Aqara hub, you will have connection issues. I did get the units to connect with Home Assistant, but they would disconnect while moving them around. So, I bought a Aqara Zigbee coordinator (hub). Just to find out it won’t work with Home Assistant if you don’t have a HomeKit hub. Well I don’t use Apple products and refuse to pay for their overprice products. So, I gave up and I am sending all the Aqara products back. Never to buy Aqara again. I will have to say, everything I have seen of Aqara is decent quality. And was easy to use, but if it doesn’t connect to Home Assistant directly, I don’t want it.

2.5 year review: 9/14 of Aqara devices dead
We loved them while they worked, but 9 out of 14 purchases failed after barely over a year. Only 3 door sensors and 1 temp sensor are still working today. Multiple battery swaps and reset attempts have failed, and customer service has declined to replace.Door sensors (3/8 still work) were the most reliable. They literally never had to be re-paired even once (while they worked) and had excellent battery life. Nice small form factor. Whether it’s a front door opening/closing multiple times a day or a window that was only opened once every few months, they worked flawlessly (until they didn’t).Temp sensors (1/4 still work), need to be re-paired every so often and drain batteries much faster (which seems fair – they have a lot more work to do than a binary door/window sensor). I would prefer if they were made thicker/larger to support a larger battery.Leak detectors (0/2 still work) all failed within a few months and were the biggest pain to set up. You’d think they came from a totally different manufacturer or something. They were massively annoying to pair and re-pair, and they had to be re-paired ALL the time.Saddest thing is that customer support is not willing to replace out-of-warranty. Partly on us for not bothering to RMA for a long time, I guess. We’ll be checking out other brands to replace the dead units before we consider Aqara again.

In the realm of home automation and smart living, the Aqara Water Leak Sensor stands as a beacon of reliability and peace of mind. This level of connectivity allows for seamless integration into my existing smart home ecosystem, enhancing its functionality without complexity. What truly sets the Aqara Water Leak Sensor apart is its reliability. During testing, it responded swiftly to simulated leaks, triggering alerts without fail. Difetti1.
