    Great product, scanty documentation!
After exchanging with a Yale Assure 2 and not being successful at integrating the Assure 2 with Google Home, I decided to go back and reinstall this product and successfully did so. What I found is that the manual did not address the various orientations by which the lock can be installed. Since I am the kind of person who wants to ensure the product works before putting it in place, I tested the product and even installed it in Google Home. This resulted in the motor rotating opposite the preferred direction. After receiving the Assure 2 lock, I could not integrate it with Google Home. So I went back to this Smart Lock, researched, reset it, and was able to make it work properly. Easy integration with Google Home. Oh, btw, there are 2 QR codes and you’ll know which one to use when you have the product on hand. Caution, do not power up until it is installed with the deadbolt because it will not automatically sense its orientation.

One of the most frustrating purchases I have ever made — borderline scam
One of the most frustrating purchases I have ever made — borderline scamI am extremely disappointed with the Yale Smart Lock YRD 510. Nowhere — and I mean nowhere — in the product description, packaging, official website, or marketing material does it clearly state that this lock is only functional in the USA and Canada.I purchased this lock in good faith to install it in my country house in Colombia, assuming that a global brand like Yale would offer a product compatible with standard smart-home ecosystems worldwide. That assumption was a mistake. After installation, it has been completely impossible to pair the lock with Google Home or even properly set it up using Yale’s own application. The lock simply does not work as advertised outside the US/Canada region. This critical limitation is not disclosed in any clear or visible way before purchase.Had this restriction been clearly stated, I would never have bought this product.Selling a “smart” device that silently fails outside two countries — without explicit warnings — is unacceptable. At this price point, this feels misleading at best and an absolute rip-off at worst.Yale should either:• Clearly label this product as US/Canada only, or• Ensure true international compatibility for a brand that claims global reach. As it stands, I feel deceived and regret this purchase entirely. I do not recommend this lock to anyone outside the United States or Canada.

Great smart lock, and Matter support makes them easy to integrate
I had the original Yale Matter locks and it was a fine product but this version is much improved. First it’s much more compact than the original, which is great. The indoor side with a battery pack is much, much smaller than the first one and the back just pops off so we’re replacing the batteries is super easy. I also love the fact that it comes in multiple colors. I have white doors and these white locks integrate really nicely with my color scheme. Set up was also a breeze. I pulled the old ones out and I had these installed and connected to my Matter hub in about ten minutes. They also seem to be more responsive. I use SmartThings and when I tap the button in th app these seem to lock and unlock very quickly whereas the original took couple seconds or more to respond. Just got them installed so I’ll have to live with them for a bit but so far I’m impressed and very happy I upgraded. Would recommend!

    Great product, lengthy install
This is my third Yale smart lock. I wanted one with a physical key and tactile numbers, and in that regard I’m happy with it. It functions very well with Google Home, which is also something I wanted. Out of all of the locks, this had the most lengthy install. Immediately upon purchase make sure that you use the measurement guide to be sure it’s compatible with your door. If you have an older or custom front door that is non-standard size in any way, it’s possible this lock is not compatible with your door. The physical install was fairly easy after confirming all measurements, but I had quite a hassle with the setup. I ended up having to factory reset the lock in order to pair it to my Google Home app. It took a while and a lot of patience. Anyone who isn’t fairly tech savvy should probably avoid it. That being said, I’m very pleased with the appearance and function.

Best lock for a Google smart home
The poor earlier reviews were written before Google released several patches and a few missing features; the lock now works flawlessly using only the Google Home app. It is an improvement over the Nest x Yale lock in at least the following ways:- Built-in connectivity (if you have other Matter devices) so a separate nearby device is no longer required for Wi-Fi- A passcode limit of 250, significantly higher than the previous limit of 10- The ability to unlock via voice with a Google speaker (it will ask you for your pin each time)I personally don’t want the key hole so there is no way to get in without forced entry but it seems like most folks prefer that as a backup option to avoid getting locked out.

Buyer beware. Functionality isn’t what you expect
The lock installed easily and the instructions were clear and helpful. Matter is the protocol of the future and is very efficient. However, Matter is still suboptimal for locks and this mode’s functionality doesn’t help. The biggest gap is that the lock doesn’t allow you to see who opened the door because that information isn’t sent across the protocol from the lock. Also, the firmware can’t update at this time since that only happens through the Yale app and this lock bypasses the app entirely. Matter will improve. Google Home’s Matter protool will improve.I created an additional sensor in Home Assistant to capture the method used to open the lock (keypad, thumb wheel, key, etc), which is a little closer to a log of who entered. The lock works but Yale intentionally or unintentionally obscures the reality of that functionality in it’s current form, so buyer beware.

The lock doesn’t work. I cannot pair it with anything as it’s saying serial number not recognised by Yale app, Google home and also Apple home. Do not buy this!

No funciona en México, dado que no te permite registrarte. Dinero a la basura.

It doesn’t work with Google home, at least not for me. Given the mixed reviews there seems to be a software issue with certain phones. Wasted so much time troubleshooting. But it works with Yale access app.
