Frequently Asked Questions (Addressing User Pain Points)
Q: Why can’t I connect the sensor to my WiFi?
A: 99% of connection issues are due to 5GHz WiFi. This sensor is designed specifically for 2.4GHz networks because of their superior range and ability to penetrate walls and floors. Please ensure your smartphone is connected to the 2.4GHz band during the initial pairing process.
Q: Will I get a notification if the battery is running low?
A: Yes! The Tuya app monitors battery levels in real-time. You will receive a “Low Battery” alert on your phone long before the device loses power, ensuring your protection never has a gap.
Q: Is the alarm loud enough to hear?
A: This model focuses on Smart Phone Notifications. While it doesn’t have a built-in 100dB siren, you can easily set an automation in the app to have your Alexa speakers or other smart sirens in the house sound an alarm when a leak is detected.
24/7 PEACE OF MIND – NO HUB NEEDED: Protect your home from costly water damage without the need for expensive smart hubs. This WiFi water sensor connects directly to your 2.4GHz network, providing a reliable, stand-alone defense for your most vulnerable areas like the laundry room or under-sink cabinets
INSTANT SMART PHONE ALERTS: Don’t wait for a disaster to discover a leak. Whether you’re at work, on vacation, or asleep upstairs, the Tuya Smart/Smart Life app sends an immediate push notification to your phone the second water is detected, allowing you to act fast
IP67 FULLY WATERPROOF & SUBMERSIBLE: Engineered for durability in high-moisture environments. The rugged IP67-rated housing ensures the internal electronics stay bone-dry even if the sensor is fully submerged. It’s built to survive the very floods it detects, ensuring long-term reliability
SENSITIVE PROBES & COMPACT DESIGN: Features dual-contact high-sensitivity probes on the bottom. The slim, low-profile design allows it to slide into tight spaces—behind washing machines, under dishwashers, or near water heaters—where leaks often go unnoticed for weeks
VOICE CONTROL & SMART AUTOMATION: Fully compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant. Ask “Alexa, is there a water leak in the basement?” for instant status updates. You can also set up smart scenes to trigger other Tuya-compatible devices, such as smart lights or sirens, for an audible home-wide alert

Many uses for this!
I cut off the end and use these with a relay to monitor all kinds of things. They work great. I only wish I could change the message in the app to what I want it to say.It also works great for its intended purpose.

Effective warnings for not-heavily-trafficked locations
I really appreciate alarms like this for spots in my house where a leak might go unnoticed for long enough to be a problem. This is easy to operate, has a loud alarm that’s hard to miss, and at $14.99 as of my order it feels like a good value for the money. It’s small enough to tuck into little nooks, and connected quickly to my wifi so I will receive notifications if it detects a problem. Overall, super functional and seems durable enough to live a long life warning me about leaks.
