Water Leak Detection System Connected to your Phone
5 for now, but I just received the device, so I won’t be able to report on longevity. Perhaps I could follow up in a year or so. The device arrived quickly with no issues. It has a main base station that can be plugged in for assurance of power. It can run on its own when charged as well, but I have no experience for how long it can hold a charge.I ordered the device with 5 leak sensors running on 2 AAA batteries that were included and came with a full charge. These sensors came already paired with the base station which made setup much easier. I just had to download the Tuya App to my phone and then plug the base station in, turn it on, then search for my WiFi and enter the password when prompted. That all worked flawlessly. Then, after loading each sensor with its batteries, I tested each one with the base station armed. The base station sounds loudly and each sensor when tested has a high pitched sound for 1-2 seconds when tested. If the sensor doesn’t stop on its own, press the test button again to turn it off.I placed my sensors in the drip pans for water heaters and AC pans to give me a head’s up on these devices which largely sit in attic spaces in Texas. I also placed one behind the toilet for early leak detection here. You could place them near a washing machine or dishwasher as well. Just place them where your concerns are greatest. These sensors are nice in that they can detect a drip coming from above the device (top of the sensor) and they have metal feet that detects water puddling underneath the sensor.The Tuya App allows you to arm and disarm the base station. It records the history of each sensor and when it sounded. Each sensor can be renamed in the App, so you will see exactly which sensor sounds when you get notified on your App of a triggered sensor.The only variable for each house is where is your WiFi base station? The base station for this leak detector system must be able to get a good signal from the WiFi in order to detect the sensors and send that message to your phone through the App. This might require a bit of trial and error on your part to optimize the location of the base station and its proximity to your sensors. Be sure to test each sensor with the base station armed to both hear it sound the alarm and for it to send that message to your phone. I actually had no issues with where I placed the sensors relative to the base station. It read the sensors in my attic as well as the sensors in the downstairs bathroom.This system was fairly easy to setup (came with a simple instruction booklet), it operated exactly as advertised and so far I am pleased with its functionality. Only time will tell on how well the system works over time. For now, I feel like we have an early warning system in place that will let us know of a problem when we are at home or traveling.

Leak detection that actually works
This system works great. I put them in an attic crawl space where I had a leak from an ice damn and below my toilet tanks where leaks are common. Within a couple nights I actually had a small leak from a toilet connection and the alarm went off and my phone was notified. I definitely got the results I want to achieve with this. I chose this system over others because the wifi hub plugs directly into a nearby outlet, so no extra wires, charging etc. Hopefully the battery life on the sensors last as advertised.
